We need your help with the following crime:
On December 13, 2000 a murder occurred at 1338 Alabama St. in Gadsden. A man knocked on the door of Michael Sims. When Michael answered the door, the man asked him if someone lived there. Mr. Sims replied no. The man then shot Michael five times, killing him in his living room, in front of three small children. Michael`s wife was in the next room and his mother was in another room. The man fled on foot. Michael Sims was a fine man who worked two jobs and was raising three children. Somewhere, someone knows something about this cold-blooded murder.

If your information leads to the arrest or indictment of the criminal who committed this crime you will be eligible for a cash reward. Call Gadsden`s Crime Line at 256-543-2444.

MARC
Marked Articles Reduce Crime

This is a program where officers from the Gadsden Police Department come in to your home and `mark` items that are high risk of being stolen. Over 80% of items that are stolen have no traceable numbers for the police to recover for victims of crime. And even if the item has traceable numbers 60% of persons do not have a record of the number. So - the police department brings an engraver along with a property list and writes down the traceable numbers for it`s citizens. Items that have no number are given an identification number and are logged onto the property list. Now if the item is ever stolen then the property has some hope of being returned to the owner. This helps, not only victims of crimes, but also the police in capturing people stealing and buying stolen property. For more information about this program or to have have someone visit your home call: 549-4500.
